David Bird (WASHA Treasurer) and John Gunner (local Wood St farmer) got talking about the Aldershot Road Allotments, where John was once a plot-holder.

John mentioned that he had tons of Cow Manure to dispose of and asked if tenants at Aldershot Road could use some. He suggested that people who used the manure should be asked for a donation which would be given to charity.

After 2 deliveries so far in 2013, donations have generated £160 - of which £50 was given to the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity and £110 was donated to Crossroads Care - whose local branch need funds to run a monthly Respite Care Cafe Day in Guildford.

So it's a novel Win/Win situation - John gets rid of his manure mountain, allotmenteers get some cracking natural compost and very good causes have benefited as a result.

Thanks from John & David to all who contributed and get ready to dig deep as there will be more manure arriving soon!
